Red Sox add an arm in Manuel

The Red Sox made a minor addition yesterday, claiming 26-year-old righthander Robert Manuel off waivers from the Mariners and adding him to the 40-man roster. Teams had until midnight last night to set their rosters to protect those players from the Rule 5 draft held next month at the winter meetings.
Manuel made his major league debut July 9 with Cincinnati, and had three scoreless appearances over 4 1/3 innings before he was traded to Seattle July 29 for outfielder Wladimir Balentien. Manuel spent the rest of the season with the Mariners’ Triple A team, posting a 3.32 ERA in 11 appearances for Tacoma. He finished the season with the eighth-best batting average against (.207) among Triple A relievers.

So as Arsenal and the EPL are on hiatus - and I am not talking hernia - well if you are Nicholas Bendtner I am but most of you have no idea who that is so I will just stop there.  The hot stove isn't even on yet - its time to ask one thing.

Are you ready for some real football?   Finally - after 10 weeks of poor match ups, we get a real one this Sunday - it's about time.

I mean seriously what was that  Pittsburgh vs Denver Horse shit on Monday night.... if I had a friend in from Europe who had never seen the NFL and they watched that comedy of errors they would have come away with the thought that NFL stood for "Not Frickin Likely" I am ever going to watch that sport again.

Ah, but this Sunday we have a real match up, pitting Tom Fucking Terrific Brady vs. Satin Manning -

Root Accordingly.

Jason Varitek exercises 2010 contract option with Red Sox

It's not that he didn't have the right to, in fact he did, its that he shouldn't have.  Well $3.0 million to the Sox is a drop in the bucket.  Wouldn't be surprised if they dealt him - I think however his years of service with the Sox also allow him to veto any trade, however he is so bad now that I wouldn't be surprised if we just paid him to go away.

It is just the Yankee's

Tis The Season - to do the right thing...................

And by do the right thing I mean for Jason Varitek  to hang em up.

Varitek hit just .209 last season and saw his playing time decline in the second half after the acquisition of Victor Martinez. Tek is one of the greatest players in Red Sox History - and to hang out as the back up is beneath him.

Thanks for the memories Jason.

The Doodle and I fair you a fond goodbye.

DD n the Doodle.

PS Tis also the season for someone to ship John Henry off to an island till about mid April.

David Wells is still - Bizzare

So I am perusing the net looking for Sox news and whatnot and I came across this article penned by David Wells talking about the Ya*kees now being the team of the decade etc, how the Sox were close, and blah blah blah blah. Now I know a large number of Sox fan's and a large number of Ya*kees fans and until I saw that article it hadn't occurred to anyone I know to "determine" a team of the decade.

So that being that, I would like to nominate David Wells for being one of the more crazy bastards of all time.  One of the better pitchers of his time, but also a bit crazy A bonkers as well.  In any event, and I am no Melville - he sucks as a writer.  He should stick to other things.

Sox Trade.......

Courtesy of WEEI.

Red Sox trade for Marlins' Hermida.

With the champagne from Yankees' World Series celebration barely dry, the Red Sox made their first move in an attempt to catch New York next season. Boston traded left-handed pitchers Hunter Jones and Jose Alvarez to the Marlins for 25-year-old outfielder Jeremy Hermida.

Hermida, a left-handed hitter, batted .259 with 13 home runs, 47 RBI and a career-high 56 walks in 129 games this season. Splitting time between left field and right field, Hermida made just one error in 205 total chances for a .995 fielding percentage, sixth among National League outfielders. He appeared in just three games after Aug. 31 due to an intercostal strain on his right side.
